Ok, on the way home I shared something with Micah, and he said I should have shared it with y'all, but I wasn't sure what I was seeing until I had a chance to talk through it, so... We have no idea what it will look like, and that is ok. Just like no one had any idea what Pentecost would look like when the Holy Spirit was supposed to arrive. No one said, "I know this will happen." or" well this is what God will look like in this moment." I'm sure people had ideas, but I also am pretty sure that they were all wrong. Nothing like that had ever happened, and when it happened there were some elated, some terrified, and some were just in awe at what the Holy Spirit was doing. The creative essence of the body has been dictated by what we know for too long. We know it will look like this______. Why? Because that is how it always happens. We worship Him this way because we have always worshiped Him this way. God is not interested in doing the usual, or the expected. We have limited worship in the body to certain things, and no one stops and wonders if that is all there is, we simply assume it is. Any time someone comes up with a new idea (painting to music and flipping the canvas over to reveal Jesus in the painting) everyone is excited and simply copies that new way of worship. We are too scared to say, "what do you have for ME specifically to do?" or "How will you flow through my heart to reflect the creator?" Just like we cannot control how flame envelops the wood, we also should not control how the Holy Spirit envelops the body, and I truly believe that this is an opportunity for God to flow into and through us in ways we never entertained in our limited understanding of Him as the Creator of all things.
